Additional Information: | BARGE BOARDS AND WOOD SHINGLES IN GABLES. SPINDLED PORCHES. September 2001-6338 Nesbitt Road This two-story, frame, Queen Anne farmhouse was built c. 1900, probably for William Miller. The house is clad with aluminum siding and rests on a fieldstone foundation. The house is T-shaped in plan and its gabled roofs are surfaced with asphalt shingles. The south-facing (front) façade exhibits a two-story, front-gabled, polygonal bay flanked by one-story, hip-roofed porches. The polygonal bay features a cottage window with a leaded-glass header, carved brackets at the canted corners, and shingling in the gable end. The porches display turned posts, railings with turned balusters, and spindle friezes. Double-hung sash in a 1/1 configuration light the house. This property is no longer in agricultural use. Statement of Significance: This farmhouse was probably constructed for William Miller, who owned it until his death sometime prior to 1926. From at least 1926 until at least 1931, the property remained a part of his estate. The house belonged to Fred Wenger in 1947. The current owner is Robert F. Whitish. |
