Additional Information: | There is aluminum siding exterior fabric on this 2 story residence. The plan is rectangular. The hip roof has a box cornice and pedimented gables. The foundation has concrete wash surface material and basement windows. Aluminum shutters flank most windows. There are endboards. The north or front side has a one story full front porch. It is screened in and has a flat roof with a metal railing on it. Porch columns are round and there is a Queen Anne front window on the first story. The second story has a picture window on the east part. At the west part is a bay windwo with a paired center window and one window at each side. Some sawn wood ornament remains above these windows. Over the bay window is a pedimented gable with a square window. The west side has an identical pedimented gable at the south edge. A first story entry is at the center of this side. It has a narrow gable porch roof with braces. Three second story and two first story windows, placed irregularly are on this knee side. The south or rear of the house has an addition. The east side has a pedimented gable over a narrow ell-two windows are on the 2nd story and two three part windows are on the first story. There are small trees and evergreens on the lot. The view of the house from the street is not obscured. This residence, is size and massing fits in nicely with others on West First Street but it has been altered to the extent that it has no architectural significance. It has not been altered so much that it is an intrusion on the district and does, in fact, contribute to the character of the area. Note: This house is shown on a street scene with SC20-7 (450 West First Street) on SC35-36. |
