Additional Information: | THIS ONE-STORY RESIDENCE IS DESIGNED WITH A RECTANGULAR PLAN CONFIGURATION, A BRICK EXTERIOR AND A GABLE ROOF. A FULL-LENGTH, SHED-ROOFED, FRONT PORCH FURTHER CHARACTERIZES THE DWELLING. BUILT IN C. 1845, THE HOUSE IS PRESENTLY IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. (SEE BIB. REF. A). ALSO OCCUPYING THE SITE IS A GARAGE; NO INTENSIVE SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED ON THIS BUILDING. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: A SMALL, WELL MAINTAINED MINER'S COTTAGE NOT FAR FROM WHERE COLONEL HENRY DODGE IS BELIVED TO HAVE BUILT HIS FIRST DWELLING AND HIS FURNACE (SEE C. 215 E. FOUNTAIN STREET, 50/25). |
