Additional Information: | Considered for NRHP purposes, this finely detailed two-story front gable narrow clapboard house features a symmetrical facade, with original and some cut clear glass windows, a well-proportioned Bungaloid veranda with tapered pillars and brownstone supports and foundation. Note exposed rafters, Bungaloid brackets and early landscaping. Home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Skok, who knew each other in Poland before traveling to America where they were married. Mr. Skok worked in Ashland on North Western Railroad and Mrs. Skok lived to be one hundred years old. They attended Holy Family Catholic Church, a church which was attended by Polish Catholics. They may represent a typical Ashland Poles' experience in Ashland. 2017: House re-sided with vinyl (was clapboard), windows replaced and exposed rafters removed. |
