Additional Information: | This one and one half story cross gabled house features an irregular shaped plan configuration, a granite stone foundation, an asbestos sided exterior, a wood trim and an asphalt shingled gable roof with dormers. Pent roofed eave returns distinguish the open gable ends. The front entrance is sheltered by an inset porch. The exposed corner is supported by a squared post. A wooden porch railing adds further detail. A hipped roof bay window is at the side elevation. The residence is in fair condition. A garage is a related building. Architectural/Engineering Significance: This structure contributes to the significance of the Nathan Strong Park Historic District under Criterion C as a modest example of a late 19th century cross-gabled cottage with picturesque massing and its original form intact despite an overall cladding of asbestos tile siding. |
