Additional Information: | This two story Greek Revival and Queen Anne styled house features an irregular shaped plan configuration, a clapboard exterior, a wood trim and a multi-gabled roof. Shed and hip roofed forms are also present. The entire structure rests on foundations made of stone, concrete block and concrete. Distinguishing the facade is an open designed porch whose hipped and pedimented roof is supported by bracketed and turned posts. The porch frieze has a decorative carved detail. At the side elevation is a one story bay capped by a flat roof. Eave returns, corner boards and a starburst in the porch pediment are other architectural elements. The residence is in poor condition. Architectual/Engineering Significance: This structure contributes to the signifincace of the Nathan Strong Park Historic District under Criterion C as a good example of a Greek Revival style house brought up to date in the 1880's with the addition of a fine Queen Anne style veranda, a box bay window and two-over-two sash windows. |
