Additional Information: | This house appears to date c. 1875, for it is noted on the 1875 Map of Berlin. The map also notes that the property was owned by E.T. Slayton. By no later than 1915-1916, the home was occupied by George and Mary McClelland. At some point in the 1920s, it is likely that the porch was added. By the l1940s, it was owned by Clark Page, while the tenant at that time was W. Parsons. The home then transferred hands a number of times and included the following: Blanche Krueger (1947), Hubert Weir (1950--who removed the previous garage and built a new one) and Woodrow and Frances Firkus. At some point, the home was converted for use as a duplex and it was the Firkus's who were responsible for the application of vinyl siding, as well as the replacement aluminum windows in 1990. |
