2009- "The brick, Gable Ell farmhouse at 5623 Woodland Drive (currently the southwest
comer of Woodland and Tuscany drives) was recorded in 1977, under AHI No. 4937 (DA-2/l6, 08-09EI
6, W. side, Woodland Dr., .2m N of Tall Oaks Dr). Historical research suggests that it was erected c.
1872, for P.R. Tierney, an Irish immigrant who worked as an attorney in Waunakee. The Tierney
farmhouse is a modest example of the Gable Ell residential building type. Prior to 1977, the farmhouse
had been altered with 11 replacement windows, the loss of the front porch, and the construction of a noncontributing,
frame rear and side addition. In 1977, the property was operated as a farm, with several
large barns. Although the non-contributing frame addition has been expanded, the original brick section
is unchanged since last surveyed, so the property was not resurveyed. Around 2005, the current owner,
Troy Hellenbrand, had the farm platted as a suburban residential development. All the barns have been
removed, and the house is proposed for removal as well."
