NOTES
Additional Information:This is square-in-plan, hipped roof, single story vernacular house type common throughout the city. Here, because of the sloping site, a basement opens at grade to form a second occupiable level. Another unusual feature is the cupola at the roof which is the most interesting architectural feature of this duplex. A front porch/balcony has been enclosed and the entire struture-with the exception of the lower level-has been clad with dark colored aluminum siding. Early window and door trim has been retained. The surface of the lower front wall has been covered with stucco, scored to resemble coursed stone. This building is of architectural interest primarily because of its early vernacular detailing and because it is an early vernacualr building type. Said to be the residence of an early Sturgeon Bay doctor.
