Additional Information: | This large two-story residential structure has the asymetrical massing of the late Queen Anne style and the detailing of the Colonial Revival. A gambrelled gable over the entry is accented with a palladian motif window and the broad porch is supported by square, built up columns. A touch of the earlier style is in the art glass window adjacent to the entry. The entire building hsa been clad with broad guage aluminum siding and much original detail appears to have been removed. The building is of architectural interest, however. August Riebolt formed a partnership with Joseph Wolter in 1885 while both worked at shipmaking at Sheboygan. The Riebolt and Wolter Company moved to Sturgeon Bay in 1896 and began the largest shipbuilding and repair yard in Wisconsin, and one of the largest on the Great Lakes. |
