NOTES
Additional Information:This two story clapboard sided structure is similar in detail to several other houses in the area. While those are ell shaped in plan, this house is square with the corner filled with a two story square entry tower with a tent roof. A finial appears to have been removed. Incised detailing in an Eastlake pattern appears on the window lintels while the feature of greatest interest is the porch which, except for a newer metal railing and concrete base and stairwy, is remarkably intact. Turned posts support a winged gable which is decorated with a carved sunburst design. A ball and spindle frieze with a wave pattern "Apron" spans the gable. Despite the false blinds and porch modifications, this smaller building is significant as an ornately detailed variation of a common local style. Similar to 824 and 520 N. Third. H.F. Scofield sold the above noted tract of land to Henryn Poehler in 1897. At that time the property was valued at $200, indicating that it was vacant. In 1898 Poehler constructed an improvement on his lot, bringing the value to $900. Further improvement took place in 1900 when the value rose to $1300, $650 of which was noted as being a building.
