Additional Information: | This double dwelling unit structure is of painted brick and is a single story capped with a painted, standing seam metal roof. This is one of the few examples of this common early roofing style and material in the City. This vernacular style house is accented with angle-set brickwork just below the soffit and is otherwise unadorned. New entry stairs and handrails have been added, probably replacing individual entry porticoes. This well-maintained building, despite the modifications, is an excellent example of a variation in a common local style, unusual both because of the use of brick and because of its double house configuration. In 1906-1907 Frank Simon acquired the title to the above described property apparently after legal proceedings and deed litigation. In any case, in 1907 the tax records show that a $235 building was constructed on the property, increasing its value to $550 from $125. |
