NOTES
Additional Information:This frame house -- which features a two story main structure, and a one and a half story wing -- represents a transition from the Gothic Revival and Greek Revival styles to the Italianate style. The label-type window surrounds are characteristic of the Gothic Revival style. Greek Revival style elements include the attic story windows on the wing and the sidelighted and transomed front door. The low pitched roof, the wide, bracketed eaves, and the porch, whose roof is supported by squared posts, are all typical of the Italianate style. The residence is in excellent condition. It is architecturally significant because it represents a type, period or method of construction, and it is a visual landmark in the area. The building was owned by Charles E. Roberts in 1982. Historical Statement: Since this house was moved from its original location, it is difficult to make any historical associations. The owner of the land on which this house is located in 1858 and 1873 was T. J. Ruger. In 1891, the land was owned by the Galbraith brothers.
