It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Raze order approved by the SHPO on June 27, 2001. Demolished 12/16/2019. This two story building features a rectangular shaped plan configuration, an unspecified stone exterior, a metal trim and a flat shaped roof. The first floor facade was altered in about 1976 to its present smooth plywood and glass, with two steel decorative cast iron support posts. The second story facade is composed of the original stone block with one turret window and three double hung windows (two in turret). The facade wall is capped in the original wood cornices (1998). The structure was owned by A. Henry Hempe in 1982. The historically named Alan Bates building, which is in good condition, is architecturally significant in that it represents a type, period, or method of construction. It is historically significant in that it is associated with the development of a locality. |
