Additional Information: | This two-story house shows the characteristics of the late Queen Anne style in its asymetry but plain detailing. The gable of the primary facade is decorated with shingle work while the rest of the house is devoid of ornamentations. A feature of interest is the rounded corner which extends to a similarly rounded roof corner. The horizontally run clapboarding which cdlads this corner is an example of the craftsmanship these early house builders exhibited. A wrap-around porch appears to have been removed and replaced with two smaller stoops. Despite these modifications,t his building contributes to the architectural significance of the District because of its residential character, remaining detailing,m and early craftsmanship. |
