Additional Information: | This two story commercial building features a rectangular shaped plan configuration, a cream brick exterior, a wood trim and a ceramic tiled flat roof. Design elements include a corbelled cornice, round arched second story windows, brick lintels, stone sills, and a recessed storefront. The building is in good condition. It is architecturally significant in that it represents a type, period, or method of construction. Historical Statement: The store was built in about 1876 for Philip Carroll. (See Bib. Ref. A, B). The 1870 directory lists Carroll as the proprietor of a meat market at this location. In 1899 W. J. Cannon operated a household goods store in this building. |
