NOTES
Additional Information:This two story commercial building features a rectangular shaped plan configuration, a cream brick exterior, a wood and stone trim, and a flat roof. Elements of the Italianate style remain, including a decorative cornice, brackets, and corbelling. Segmental and round arched windows with stone sills, brick lintels, and keystones are also present. The building is in good condition. It is architecturally significant in that it represents a type, period or method of construction. In 1982, Helen M. Graham, of 224 Pease Court, owned this structure; a store and apartments were its occupants. Historical Statement: Assessment roll research indicates that this commercial building was built in about 1865 on land owned by Robert Cairns. The 1866 directory indicates that the Misses Cairns operated a millinery store at this location. The T. J. Cairns & Brother (Robert) Dry Goods Store is listed at this location in the 1876 directory, so too is a store that sold "American Sewing Machines," operated by J. G. Burdick. Its association with commerce makes this building historically significant.
