Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Cook was born in New York state in 1846. He settled in Janesville in 1861 and established a jewelry business soon after. He also was a director of the Merchants and Mechanics bank. Cook died in Janesville in 1907. In 1979, the upstairs bath was converted to a kitchen for a duplex. In 2000, it was converted back when the building was again used as a single family dwelling.
