This two-and-one-half story house exhibits features of the Queen Anne and Neo-classic styles. Queen Anne features include the circular bay, horizontal siding, and tall chimney. Neo-classic features include a denticulated cornice, broken pedimented dormers, and pilaster strips. Built at the turn of the 20th century for William S. Jeffris, president of the Merchants and Savings Bank who resided here until 1923. The house was owned later by Alan Dunwiddie, assistant manager of Solie Lumber Company.

"Jeffris' imposing Georgian Revival house is an early example of the style in Janesville. David's brother, William S., president of Merchants and Savings Bank, resided here 1910-1923. Of particular interest are the round projecting bays, pedimented windows, narrow modillions at the eaves, and the Ionic colonettes which carry the lower porch. The second story porch was originally an open deck with a low balustrade." The Courthouse Hill Historic District: A Guide, Janesville Historic Commission, 1997.
