Additional Information: | This plain, two-story, brick box of a building is square in plan, topped by a shallow roof, and has a single story gabled wing to the east. Details of interest are the arched opening to the corner entry, the carved (or cast) stone lintels over the primary window and entry door, and the porch serving the east wing. This porch is simply detailed with square tuscan columns supporting the roof and basts on a foundation of local stone, cast concrete blocks, and polygonal rubble infill. This building is of interest because of its plain but uncommon within-the-city detailing and because it appears to have been relatively unaltered over time. This building is described on map A as being "under construction." Both the two- and one-story sections first appear on the 1898 map. House looks like it was built in sections over different periods. Porch and front stoop appear as later alterations but within the historic period (2000). |
