Additional Information: | Asymmetric interior entrance; cartouche in porch pediment; leaded windows; glazed porch on front. 2017- "Narrow clapboard siding covers this two-story, hipped-roof, Colonial Revival-influenced, American Foursquare home. Facing east, the main facade presents a hipped-roof porch enclosed with a continuous series of one-over-one, wooden storm windows underlined with wooden bulkheads. A gablet including painted ornamentation tops the main entrance. The second floor retains a pair of tripartite window units consisting of a central one-over-one, double-hung sash flanked by leaded-glass sidelights protected by wooden stmm windows. The roof exhibits a pair of brick chimneys (one internal and one external) and small window dormers on the east and nmih slopes clad with wooden shingles. Meanwhile, two-story, canted bays highlight the south and north sidewalls. Fenestration is predominately one-over-one, double-hung sashes arranged singly and in tripatiite groupings. Otto C. and Bertha (d. 1927) Lemke built this house in 1905. Born in 1870 in Berlin, Wisconsin, Lemke was educated at Stevens Point Normal School and Valparaiso University. After a few years of teaching, Lemke worked for several lumber companies before joining the Underwood Veneer Company. After serving in several positions, he became the president in 1910. A year after Bertha's death he married Anna Johnson who remained in the house after Lemke's death in 1947." -"S. 1st Ave: Thomas St-Stewart Ave", WisDOT#6999-18-13, Prepared by Heritage Research, Ltd.
