NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. An important and distinctive Wausau example of the Neo-Classical Revival style designed by locally noteworthy architect Philip Dean. The building is inspired by Renaissance prototypes and features a three tiered gradation of surface textures (rusticated stone, coursed brick, smooth brick) akin to Renaissance palaces. Other classical elements include: simulated voussoirs and heraldic motifs over first story windows, Ionic pilasters, denticulated cornice and balustraded roof. Wausau Gas Company had offices here from 1901-1925.
