Additional Information: | The Andis' lived here from at least 1929-1950. Garage. 2015- "The Matthew and Anna Andis House was constructed in 1927. It is a two-story, rectangular, cream brick residence that displays elements of the Prairie style including wide eaves and horizontal emphasis. A small one-story entrance porch is located on the east elevation. A patio framed by a limestone wall and balustrade provides a walkway from the driveway, across the facade, to the entrance porch. The house has a shallow pitched hip roof, clad in metal that is patterned to look like shingles. The exterior of the house is broken by a concrete string course that runs below the second story windows on all elevations. A plain frieze band is also present beneath the eaves. Brick pilasters frame the facade and feature modest vertical brick decoration on the second story. There are a variety of window types present on the house. A wide three-part window is centered on the facade's first story. It features a large shelf molding and is sheltered by a fabric awning. Three windows are centered on the facade's second story; they are sash and sheltered by a fabric awning. Other smaller windows that feature a segmental arch with keystone are present on the west elevation. The property also features a large garage that is connected to the house on its northwest corner. The one-and-one-half story garage has a rectilinear shape and features a side gable metal roof. The south slope of the roof features a hip dormer with one-over-one windows. The facade of the garage is divided into three single vehicular bays. Each bay has an arched opening that features a keystone. The garage doors themselves are wood paneled, with three single light windows across the top of each. Marking the entrance to the drive way is a wrought iron gate, attached to a brick post." - "Washington Ave (STH 20), Roosevelt Ave to West Blvd", WISDot #2440-09-00, Prepared by Shelley Greene (2015). |
