NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Photo code: FCS 4/10. This single story, rectangular, front gabled frame shed is sued as the lock tender's station. It has been relocated to a cement house foundation built into the lock embankment. Clad with drop siding and roofed with asphalt shingles, it has walls bounded by pilaster stripes. A centered, paneled front door and a single window in each sidewall have plain surrounds. The roof has plain gable cornices. A metal smokestack protrudes from the upstream slope. There is no passage between the single room of the lock shack and the foundation's basement chamber. "Significance: The lock shelter provides shelter for the lockkeeper while on active duty. In addition, the lock shelter provides office space and first aid facilities for office personnel. As such the lock shelter functions as part of the daily operation of the Kaukauna Locks and Dam Complex." - Kaukauna Lock & Dam HAER (HAER WI-87-Q) https://www.loc.gov/item/wi0628/
