NOTES
Additional Information:This painted brick two story vernacular house has its gable roof facing the street and a one story frame addition. The building has retained its original features including its decorative window caps and fenestration. Joseph Francois, a machinest for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, built this brick house around 1886 and lived there until 1928. Francois left Kaukauna after the railroad headquarters moved to Green Bay. Since the 1930's it became a multiple family residence. Over the years, many of the families have been paper workers employed at Kimberly Clark Corp., Marathon Paper Corp., and Thilmany Pulp and Paper Co. Previous Owners: Joseph Francois (1886-1928); John Herman (1929-1930); P.J. Fassbender (1931); Walter Rutten (1932-1951).
