Additional Information: | This is a well-constructed brick building decorated with an elaborate cornice. The pressed metal cornice has a central "parapet", pilaster decoration, and a date and masonic emblem inscription. Second story windows are topped with denticulated lintels which match a belt course just aboe them. The storefront features what appear to be original entry doors, a transom, and matching four pane show windows (which have had a recent addition of stained glass on the lower two panes). The interior is largely original, with wooden floor, high ceilings and typical turn of the century store plan. Since the building has such high integrity, and its level of preservation is high, it is pivotal in the district. This building housed both the Masonic Hall (second floor) and a Post Office at the turn of the century. It now houses a gift shop. |
