Half Timbered Tudor period home by Childs & Smith with two wings by Eachweiler. One of five "Great Houses" built between Appleton and Oshkosh during the 1920s. The gates are from the Jane Smith Hashins House, Menasha. Ernest Mahler joi8ned Kimberly Clark in 1914 as a chemical engineer. Educated in Europe he was the company's first chemist and is credited with the creation of "cellucotton", and thus Kleenex, Kotex and other absorbent products. Under his influence Kimberly Clark moved from competitive papers into paper products and emerged as a multinational corporation. Mahler was instrumental in the foundation of the institute of Paper Chemistry.
