Arhictectural Statement:

A Prairie influence is suggested by the smooth stucco walls, simple frame trim and overhanging roof of the Hardy House; however, at the time of construction the design was described as a Swiss chalet. A pavilion, covered by a gable roof, appears centered on the facade of this two story building. A large porch supportd by square posts partially covers the facade. The residence is in fair condition. It was owned in 1982 by Rose M. Erke of 1225 E. Newhall Avenue.

Historical Statement:

W. H. Hardy, Jr. was the secretary-treasurer of the Hardy Ryan Abstract Company. [B].
Bibliographic References:A. Waukesha Freeman, August 12, 1915, p. 4. B. Waukesha City Directory, 1915-1916. C. WAUKESHA FREEMAN 6/6/1995. The American Contractor, 8 May 1915 (available online), page 77, and again on 12 June 1915, page 71 (taking new bids), cites a home designed for owner William H. Hardy at College Street & Grand Avenue, as being designed by Henry C. Hengels.
