Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the State Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation. Initial Survey: This building has a painted brick exterior and a wood trim. Its elaborate Italianate porch is detailed with clustered columns, scrolled brackets, a centered pediment and a pierced, arched frieze. Greek Revival eave returns appear on the side elevations. The building was reputed to have been a bank in c. 1892. 1999 Survey: Tax rolls, chain of title and historic letters place date of construction in the 1860s. Rear addition constructed in circa 1865. Garage constructed in 1973. J.C. Dundas was a surgeon. No information found to support that it was formerly a bank. By 1890, the property had been sold to Mrs. A.H. Krogh. A.H. Krogh was a manufacturer of artificial limbs. By 1895, the property had been sold to Mrs. Lena Slagg who retained the house until at least 1935. |
