Additional Information: | This two-story house has a low-pitched hip roof, a stucco exterior, and window bands of six-over-one light double-hung sashes on the first and second stories. A one-story sun room extends from the east side of the first story. This house is architecturally significant as a good example of the Prairie Style in Fond du Lac. Fond du Lac has few good examples of the style, although its influence can be seen in many early twentieth century houses in the city. This house has the basic elements of the style in its emphasis on horizontal lines, the low-pitched roofline, and window bands. Although not as elaborate or as well-executed as more famous examples of the style, this house is still a good and representative example of the style. Initial research indicates that this house is not historically significant. Further research into the owners and occupanats of this house may uncover information that makes it significant some time in the future. |
