NOTES
Additional Information:This two-and-one-half story Queen Anne house has an irregular, massive plan, a steeply pitched hip roof with gable projections, wide eaves with modillions, clapboard siding, projecting bays, and a wrap-around veranda with limestone piers supporting grouped round columns, spool-and-spindle balustrade, and a decorative wooden apron.

This house is architecturally significant as a fine example of the Queen Anne style. The massive quality of the plan, along with the classical details, especially the fine veranda, makes this a good and typical example of the style.

The house was probably built for Chauncy Medberry, president of the Gurney Refridgerator Company, a successful industry in Fond du Lac. It was soon taken over by William Coughlin, the owner of a meat market.

Initial research indicates that the occupants of this house were not historically significant. Further research may uncover information that may make them significant in the future.
