2018 - This two-story commercial vernacular building is centrally located in downtown Deerfield at the southwest corner of Main and Nelson Streets. It was constructed in 1916 and housed the Bank of Deerfield beginning in 1918. The façade faces east toward N. Main Street and is clad in stone on the first story and brick on the second story. The first story has two recessed entrances, one centrally located and the other at the north end. Large groups of fixed windows fill the remainder of the storefront level. The window and door openings are framed by simple stone pilasters and sheltered by awnings. The symmetrical second story consists of five window bays. The outer two bays include a pair of one-over-one replacement windows, while the inner three bays have a single one-over-one replacement window. The window openings have stone sills and lintels. The cornice level consists of four evenly spaced brick pilasters with diamond shaped stone insets. The parapet is stepped at its center with a large data stone reading “1916.”
