Additional Information: | This late Italianate house is two stories in height and constructed of cream brick. The low-pitched hipped roof is interrupted with several gable projections. Under the eaves are paired brackets and a wooden frieze. Windows are generally modern single-light double-hung sashes. A large one-story bay window sits on the front wall. It has a paneled apron and frieze with brackets. The main entrance is enclosed with a wood and brick covering. Two sets of French doors provide entrances on the east wall of the house. The late Italianate style emphasizes the vertical rather than the horizontal of the more boxier early Italianate style. Also, more classical details are seen on the later style. This house, with its vertical emphasis, classical details, and brick construction well represents the style. And the trademark details of the style, the low-pitched hip roof, wide overhanging eaves, and brackets, are all seen on this house. |
