Book incorrectly identifies Rose (his first wife, who died in 1925) as Walter's wife at the time of the home's construction. Assessor’s information cites a 1927 date of construction; however, city directories do not list the Thoms in the home as of 1929. In Aucutt, et. al., Wausau Beautiful, a 1929-30 date is offered. Note, however, that the Thoms entertained “at their home on Highland Park Boulevard,” as of January 1930; therefore it can be assumed that the house was likely almost entirely completed, if not completed, by the end of 1929. |
