Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. BRICKWORK CORNICE, ALTERED FACADE. "The earliest portion of the two-story brick building was only fifty-five feet wide, originally designed to house two stores on its first floor. An attractive wooden balcony was added by its owner, Albert Lamboley, to connect his second floor dwelling rooms in 1896. A subsequent owner, Edward Larson, made this the largest retail establishment in the village by building a twenty-foot addition to the north in 1907, thereby creating a third storefront. Businesses occupying stores in this building have included groceries, saloons, a drug store, and a theater. The second story served as a residence, hotel, rooming house, and apartments. Lamboley, the original owner, moved in and out of Mazomanie, also operating businesses in Oregon, Madison, and Belleville." Mazomanie Downtown Historic District, Mazomanie Historical Society, 1993.
