Additional Information: | This two-story Prairie-influenced house has a hipr oof with an unusually-shaped dormer. The walls are stuccoed and windows are largely single-light sashes, placed in groups of two or three. A shallow two-story bay with the same unusual shape of its roof as the dormer projects from a side wall of the building. The front porch features a hip roof with flared eaves supported by plain square posts and a stuccoed balustrade. This building is architecturally significant as a good example of a Prairie Style-influenced house. It has the horizontal emphasis in the plan and massing that is typical of the style. While not overly-detailed, this house is a good example of the inluence of the style in a community with few good Prairie Style houses. This house was probably built for James and Elizabeth Connell, who lived there between 1903 and 1942. James Connell was a physician. This house is not individually historically significant. |
