Additional Information: | This one and one half story house is designed in the Dutch Colonial style. The building was constructed with a rectangular shaped plan configuration, a rock faced concrete block exterior, a stucco and stone trim and an asphalt shingled gable and gambrel roof. Pent roofs appear at the front and side elevations as do asphalt shingles, which cover the open gable end at the front and the gambrel end at the side elevation. The windows in the upper story are detailed with flat arched wooden heads, while the windows on the first story are detailed with stone sills. Located on the front corner is an inset front porch, whose railings and porch posts are stuccoed. The residence is in good condition. Historical Background: Either this house or the one east of it at 803 East Main Street (see SK 42/33) was built in c. 1912. The blocks had to be imported from another city. (See Bib. Ref. A). |
