Additional Information: | A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. This two-story house has a steeply-pitched gable roof, a stucco second story, and a clapboard first story. A broad projecting gable and gable-roofed dormer accent the front facade. They are decorated with plain bargeboard, as are the end gables of the house. Windows are largely single-light casements with transoms, some set in shallow bays. The front porch has a limestone foundation and balustrade supporting grouped square columns supporting a shed roof. Under the porch roof eaves as well as the main roof and dormer eaves are exposed rafters. This house is architecturally significant as a fine example of a Craftsman Style. The simple lines of the house, accented with plain, but well-executed wood trim are the hallmarks of the style. This was the home of Henry and Ida Rueping between 1909 and 1942. Henry Rueping was an executive with the Giddings and Lewis Company, Fond du Lac's most important twentieth century industry. This house is not historically significant at this time. Further research may uncover information that leads to significance in the future. |
