NOTES
Additional Information:This two-story Italianate house has a low-pitched hi roof with wide eaves decorated with a paneled frieze and brackets. The brick walls have been painted and windows are tall and narrow with heavy label moldings on the second story and round arch moldings on the first story. All windows have footed sills. The original front porch consists of a flat roof with overhanging eaves decorated with modillions and brackets, and thin square posts. There is a large two-story ell on one side of the building and a one-story bay on the other side. A lower rear ell extends off of the back of the building.

This house is architecturally significant as a fine example of the Italianate style. The square form, hip roof, bracketed frieze, arched windows, and Italianate style front porch are all fine details of the style. This house has a high level of integrity, with all of its major details intact, making the building a gracious and elegant example of the style.

This house was probably built for William Stuhrk, a shoemaker, around 1870. It was later the home of noted attorney Edward Phelps and his wife Alice.

At this time the house is not historically significant. Further research into the occupants of the house may reveal information that makes the building significant in the future.
