Additional Information: | BRACKETED CORNICE 2016- "This Italianate style building was used as a general store until the 1930's. Ole and Egil Evans started the business around 1895. Harald Smedal joined the business in 1912, eventually becoming the sole owner. During the early 1930's the building was rented for the post office. John McFarland bought the building during the late 1930's and turned it into a tavern. In 2015, Matt and Ashley Byrne are purchasing it via land contract and it continues to be used as a tavern that now offers tasty sandwiches." -"Historic McFarland: A Walking Tour" booklet, Third printing, published by the McFarland Historical Society, (March 2016). |
