Additional Information: | 1995- "Clapboard, Queen Anne, ca. 1890, two-story, front-gabled farmhouse with gabled side wing, shingles in gable ends with unusual quatrefoil oculi, shingles flare at eaves, two-over-two windows, enclosed porch across front of side wing. This farmhouse was in the Speth family from before 1895 to after 1928 (plat maps). Several neighboring farms were also owned by the Speth family. The Speths were of German origin. The rather unique treatment of the gable ends, with the shingle siding, flared at the eaves, and the quatrefoil tracery on the round attic windows, gives a curious high-style flair to what is otherwise a standard gable-plus-wing farmhouse." -"USH 151, Dickeyville to Belmont", WisDOT# 1209-02-00, Prepared by Katherine Hundt Rankin (Preservation Consultant) for Rust Environment & Infrastructure Inc, 1995. |
