NOTES
Additional Information:1995- "Aluminum or vinyl siding on a vernacular, ca. 1855, saltbox roofed farmhouse with a five-bay facade, center door, and three, evenly spaced eyebrow windows above. The house faces east while the road is to the north of the house. Window sash are two-over-two doublebungs. The house has the smaller form and classic styling of a building that could be quite old.

From before 1868 to after 1903 this house was owned by the John Glaeser family (spelled various ways). In the 1870 census, John Glaeser was a 32-year old farmer from Biern (probably Bern, Germany), and his wife, Barbara, was 25-years old and also from Biern. They had two children, and Catharine Glaeser, probably his mother, living with them.

The early form of the house is intriguing and suggests that it could be quite old. Being located close to Platteville also raises the question of whether or not it was perhaps associated with Platteville's early mining history. The 1857 plat map shows a great deal of mining activity occurring in the vicinity of this house. The house has been significantly altered with the addition of modern siding, however."
