Additional Information: | DESCRIPTION: Similar in composition to many of its neighboring Late Picturesque style neighbors on Chapple Avenue, this house is distinct for its materials and its general resemblance to some late Prairie School style design elements such has horizontality and simplicty. The two story plus attic house features a symmetrical front facade with a gabled roof dormer piercing the saltbox roof that drops low in front over the coupled rectangular windows placed up under the eaves. The front is dominated by the massive rectangular veranda with square columns and a short parapet wall around the second floor surface. The central entry is flanked by two large rectangular windows and the door features bevelled clear glass. The symmetrical southeast facades has an exposed brick chimney that is flanked at each side in the gable peak by small rectangular 1/1 windows. The first story is covered with stucco and has two rectangular windows in contrast with the narrow clapboard second story with a pair of coupled rectangular windows. The interior is presently being restored and its original oak woodwork, doors with clear bevelled glass and hardwood floors are in very good condition. |
