Additional Information: | THIS BUILDING'S ELABORATE LARGELY ORIGINAL SECOND STORY IS PRESSED OR STAMPED TIN OR STEEL THAT RESEMBLES ROCK-FACED STONE AND DRESSED STONE. THE FIRST STORY STOREFRONT, HOWEVER, HAS NOW BEEN COMPLETELY ALTEED.
2008- "This previously surveyed, freestanding, two-story-tall, rectilinear plan Boomtown Style commercial building has a symmetrical main fac;ade faces north onto W. Main St. Originally, the first story of this facade contained a single large storefront that was composed of a deeply inset centered entrance door that was flanked on both sides by small display windows, and this entrance was flanked in its turn by two larger display windows. Now, however, all of these elements have been replaced with modern elements altered and a pent roof has been constructed across the entire width of and just above the storefront. The second story of this fac;ade is still largely intact, however, and it is three-bays-wide, with the center bay containing a pair of window openings and the two flanking bays, single window opening. Each of these openings is flanked half-round pilasters that have bases and capitals and the wall surface in between them appears to be made out of painted rock-faced stone blocks. In actuality, however, the entire second story and the elaborate cornice above that crowns the fac;ade are faced entirely in pressed tin or metal. Unfortunately, these window openings now contain modern windows. In addition, both of the original side walls of the building have now been reclad with stucco-covered panels, the seams of which are covered in dark stained wood strips in imitation of half-timber work, and a large, later two-story addition has now been added across the entire rear of the original building."
