Additional Information: | During the mid-nineteenth century, a log school was constructed on County Road J in the Town of Sumner. It was replaced by a brick schoolhouse for Joint School District No. 7, known as both Blackhawk and Hummel School, in 1908. The school closed in 1965, when the district consolidated with the Fort Atkinson school district. The building was sold and now serves as a private residence.
