Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. CENTRAL SQUARE TOWER ON FRONT. CORBELLED CORNICE. POINTED ARCHED WINDOWS. This church was originally built for the Evangelical Association. The Evangelical Association emerged from the Methodist Church around 1803 in Pennsylvania. Within Wisconsin, the sect first organized in 1840 and it soon attracted a high number of German immigrants. This church was built in 1879 at a cost of $5,500. In 1935, the congregation had 225 members, a number that required the facility to be remodeled. Specifically a new entrance was built at the rear of the building and the entire interior was reversed. In 1968, the church became known as the Immanuel United Methodist Church when the Evangelical Association reunited with the Methodist Church. In 1985, an office/Sunday school addition was added onto the building (the rearmost addition).
