Additional Information: | A 'site file' titled "Memorial Park Historic District" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. Louise Grossman lived here between c. 1893 and c. 1936. There was no occupational information for her in the directories. Initial research indicates that none of the occupants of this house are historically significant either individually, or as a group within the proposed historic district. Reportedly built by the local builder, Christian Schmutzler, this gabled ell brick house is characterized by projecting triangular pediment shaped window heads, an oculus, a mansard roofed one-bay entrance porch with iron cresting on the roof curb and a double-leafed entrance door with transom window. Exterior shutters and replacement windows have been added to the house. |
