NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' titled "Memorial Park Historic District" exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, Division of Historic Preservation-Public History. This was the home of William Schulte, an agricultural implement merchant, between c. 1893 and c. 1900. It was the home of William Kohls, a furniture merchant, between c. 1924 and c. 1936.

This house has some historical interest as the home of William Schulte and William Kohls.

Featuring patterned masonry chimneys, this brick house exhibits a hip roof with lower cross gables ornamented with decorative shingles, bargeboards and finials. Cutaway bays with bracket trim on the south gable, a sidelighted entrance door with transom and stained glass windows are additional features of this large house. An open one-bay front porch with gable, dentil trim remains on the house but the south side porches have been altered.

Although retaining sufficient architectural character to be an important historic resources in the city, this house has less integrity as an example of the Queen Anne style than other examples in the city.
