Bibliographic References:[A] ASHLAND ASSESSOR'S CARD Based on tax roll valuations, the house was built between 1892 and 1893; it also appears that at least the sale of the lot was handled by the Osborn Home Association. The house was initially used as a rental. A 2003 book published by the Ashland Historical Society indicates the house was buil tby a Butler; however, deeds and a newspaper citation in the Ashland Weekly Press (6 August 1892) indicate the house was built by Herman Rettinghaus, a civil engineer, but who never resided here.
