Additional Information: | SECOND STORY INTEGRITY WITH QUOINS AND LINTELSCAST IRON STOREFRONT HIDDEN BENEATH SHINGLE EAVE VERY SIMILAR TO ITS ADJACNET NEIGHBORS IN STYLE AND DESIGN [Date Cnst:POST (SANBORN PERRIS MAP)] The 1901 Sanborn Perris fire insurance map indicates that this building was built after 1901 and after both buildings on either side of it. Description: A two story red brick and brownstone commercial building with substantial first story alterations. The intact second story features four rectangular windows with brownstone sills and lentils, brickwork quoins and an upper frieze and cornice of projecting brick panels. Significance: This building owes its significance to its second story integrity and to the similarity of fenestration, proportions and materials that it shares with its two adjacent buildings from the same period. Together these three buildings at 218-22 West 2nd Street add substantial integrity to this part of the district. |
